Worcestershire LEP launches apprenticeship campaign to invest in future skills
As part of this week’s National Apprenticeship Week, Worcestershire Apprenticeships are highlighting the importance of Apprenticeships for the future of the county’s workforce.
Worcestershire Apprenticeships are running a week-long campaign to 'Create your Future' with apprenticeships in line with the national campaign 'Fire It Up', taking place from 4 – 8 March 2019.
Over this week, a range of activities have been taking place across the country to highlight how apprenticeships are providing the local community and businesses with the skills needed for the future of Worcestershire.
Local businesses and organisations have already participated in the apprenticeship poster campaign, to show their support of local apprenticeships. These include OGL Computer, Thomas Weston Construction, Worcestershire County Council, Buzz Electrical, Brockencote Hall, Morgan Advanced Materials and Sencon UK.
In 2018 approximately 5,000 people started their apprenticeships in Worcestershire, helping to create the county’s skilled workforce. These include a wide variety of apprenticeships at intermediary, advanced and higher levels in Engineering and Manufacturing, Business Administration, Finance and Accounting, IT and Digital Development and many more.
Apprenticeships will also feature prominently at the Worcestershire Skills Show, the county's largest ever careers event, which is taking place on Wednesday 13 March at Chateau Impney. The event will include a large 'Apprenticeship Zone' which will offer young people from Year 7 upwards the opportunity to meet with the county’s largest employers from a variety of industries, and understand how apprenticeships can help create their future careers.
