Prospects is a supporter of the LEP Network and sponsored the LEP workshops on 18 October at Central Hall, Westminster. Director of Employment and Skills at Prospects, Barbara Cabras, introduced the work of Prospects below:

At Prospects our purpose is to transform lives and communities through our innovation and expertise in employment, skills, care and education, inspiring more than half a million people across the UK each year to develop their potential.

We are working with a number of LEP’s across England and look forward to working with more of you over the next 12 months.


  • The largest provider of the National Careers Service working with more than 160,000 people a year looking for work, wanting to gain skills or qualifications or simply improve their career prospects.
  • The prime provide of the National Careers Service across London, West Midlands and the South West. In each of these areas we work with schools, employers, LEPs and local authorities to create tailored support.
  • Delivering the Inspiration Agenda is one of the services we provide for the National Careers Service. This involves working directly with schools and employers to raise aspirations through activities such as workshops, role models and work tasters and working with your enterprise advisers is key to this.
  • Through the National Careers Service Prospects helped 890 offenders into jobs.
  • Prospects supported 28,016 people into jobs last year.
  • Across England, on behalf of local authorities, Prospects have consistently reduced the number of young people not in education, employment or training.
  • Delivering careers and skills events across the UK such as Skills London and Skills North East with the support of the local LEP to inspire young people towards their future career.
  • Understanding local labour markets and providing labour market information as well as analysis to help LEPs plan how they can achieve local objectives.
